There are old comments about an emphasis on “ethereal/dainty” (andI would add “sexually suggestive”) women and a dearth of “masculine” topics. I’ve seen some improvement since then but not enough. I’m a woman who would like to see more everyday women in strong positions, e.g., doing construction, or in a canoe with a man but doing the rowing. The flipside, of course, is men doing childcare, picking flowers, etc.
It doesn’t mean a special series now and then, but rather encouraging all your artists to consider gender-role diversity in their work.
