Lock entire app or individual journals with Password, PIN, Touch ID, etc.

Get excited – passcodes are here! We just released our latest app update TODAY and it includes a brand new passcode option. Now you can keep your app safe from prying eyes :) We can’t thank you all enough for your votes and comments on this feature request – it is because of YOU that we worked on developing this feature and getting it into the app. We appreciate this fabulous Zinnia community more than you know <3

Pleased to update you all that we have a completed design for the password feature! Now our engineers need to work on developing it, and then we’ll do a bit of internal testing… then should be good to roll out to you all. This may be another 2-3 months or so, but please know that we’re actively working on password protection. Thanks to everyone who voted and gave feedback on what you were looking for! – Rebecca

Thanks to everyone who voted for this feature, and for your extremely helpful comments. We definitely agree that a passcode system is needed to provide some extra security for your journals! We are currently in the process of working on the design for this feature, but we’re running into something we wanted to run by you, too. Even with a passcode, all the journal content is available on iCloud if you have it enabled. This means you could also access your journal files if you dug through your Files app, and also if you logged into your iCloud account from the web. Passcodes for many other apps work this way, but with journals, we want to know if this is a dealbreaker. Would you feel that having a passcode on the app itself is enough? This would deter any family members or others who share your device from accessing your journals. But would you need us to encrypt the files and restrict access to the content on iCloud? This is where it ends up getting complicated, and why we held off on implementing this feature earlier. We’d love to hear your feedback on this feature so we can continue with the design, and hopefully get this into the app very soon! Thanks so much. – Rebecca, Product Manager

Yes thats why i choose for digital journal. I want it to be private. No one can read it even when i’m no longer be here

I agree. My journaling is pretty personal so I’m deleting the app. If I can’t passcode protect them then the app is useless to me. Such a bummer cause I really like the app otherwise...

Definitely need a lock feature, I worry my journal can be read, I was very surprised to find this feature wasn’t already on there. I thought it would just be a given.

I definitely have to agree with the rest, we need a security settings for the app or just the choice on each journal. I too would write in it more if I had passcode protection. Hurry and get this started lol 😆

Yes, most definitely! My son plays on my iPad and although he don't mess with any thing besides his games, knowing my journal is locked & safe from prying eyes would be great!! A lock is the only thing to me that's really missing from this app
