Tabbed journals with dividers, index hyperlinks, or table of contents
Being able to click between dates in your journal or entries to help organise (which can also mean tabbed journals are an option) would be fantastic.
- Thanks to everyone for your amazing feedback on these features.
- We now have linking in Zinnia, and have been adding more and more tabs in the Studio, so you can now manually create your own dividers and linkable tabs.
- This feature request seems to be a blending of a few different requests, so I have created a new request called "Automatic index and table of contents," which you can access and upvote here if you'd like. I'm going to close this feature request since we have implemented linking and tabbed dividers in the Studio. I have also collected all of the comments and feedback and have referenced them with the team. Appreciate all of you!!!

I’m semi retired now but used to be a director of projects and have tested and rolled out lots of softwares. I’m happy to help beta test and provide PMP feedback as well as having so many time management ideas for the amazing app you have already created!

I would love to be able to create sections in my journal instead of having separate journals for my sections - I have lists, projects, monthlies, weeklies, dailies, trackers etc

I think the design issue is that a great deal of content is preformatted to fit the standard journal size with no extra height or width to place the tabs. But if you choose legal size and put it into portrait it corrects that. Printing legal size is also not convenient.
Most don't realise that "letter" is "standard" in portrait mode.
Because everything is set to fit "standard", or A5, when you decrease a block it scales making it no longer fitting across the page. I know you have svg/ai images that maintain the ability to change size both width and height. Perhaps it's it's matter of changing file types? A pain yes, but less than rewriting the graphics engine...

You can link! Just click to add a link and double click to access it. You can easily create tabs this way.

I echo the feedback of other users here. You can purchase hyperlinked digital planners for use in GoodNotes, but it just doesn't compare to the beauty and ease of use in zinnia. However, being able to have tabs at the top or side like a traditional paper planner makes it so much easier to navigate to the planner pages you need. Hyperlinks to pages, sections or dates would also be immensely helpful.

I would love to be able to add tabs or an index or table of contents to my journals. Really the addition of hyperlinks of any type would be a great addition. I’ve seen this feature on other digital journals but otherwise they don’t compare to Zinnia in terms of visual appeal, versatility and creative joy. I know I would get so much more out of Zinnia if I could build journal with the ability to say jump between yearly, monthly & daily pages quickly. Or have an index or category for different project ideas I’m working on for my home.or create a mini cookbook with my favorite recipes for different holidays. Thank you for listening to my input, this is another way your app excels above so many others!

Yep. I’d love to be able to use a table of contents on my journals and set up a link to each ‘page’. I’m creating journals to track my garden by season and year, a journal to keep cocktail recipes for the bar and another for different games I play. It would be great to be able to jump to a page with the specific info I’m looking for (ie, summer plantings of 2020).

I would love this feature as well. So many journals have various features I love- but none have all of them lol.
I LOVE Grid Diary and how you can customize the grids as a template. You click a grid to enlarge it for writing etc. It lacks the beauty of Zinnia though- and has no option for the pencil.
Then there’s Notability and their digital planners. You can click a date or page and it takes you to another. But it’s not intuitive at all and is creatively limited. -

Not only tabs & index with page numbers but adds separate ability to import & use a pdf that has hyperlinks. That way I can import an entire digital planner I already made or one that I’ve downloaded/purchased through Etsy the way GoodNotes does it!

It would be awesome if this was linked to or could sync with Google and Microsoft calendars so when I enter an event into my calendar it shows up immediately in the app and vice versa. Artful agenda does something like this but the rest of their app is not as smooth and polished as yours.

I would love to be able to click a tab to get to a specific month in my journal. Or to a specific section

I would like to have a tabs to use with my planner. To be able to create my year in one planner and be able to go to months/days easily. I would like to be able to set up and customize other tabs like my tracker, medical information, passwords. And more, so I can set up the pages I want in my planner and easily be able to click on a tab to get to the area I in my planner I need. I would also use it for my journal so I could set up a tab for each month. And maybe a tab for a gratitude journal, spieitual study, so I can have different sections in the same journal. Also it would be helpful if I could add a page at the beginning of my journal, so my newest pages show up first especially when calendaring. Right now I’m having to scroll to the end and slowly move the page back to the beginning. There are so many things I love about this app!! I’m am mottling through with multiple journals for planner months right now which I don’t love, if I could get customizable tabs and combine some of them it would make me be able to organize my thoughts and life better. Thank You for asking for input and for trying to implement this feature. I am anxiously awaiting its release!!

I keep a yearly journal and have different sections in one journal. Being able to tab and collapse pages will make it easier to scroll through my pages. For example, if I can tab and collapse January and February pages, I can quickly go to March.

I would love it if the Zinnia team could give an update on this idea. I think it’s an essential feature for a planner app, and I would love to be able to create my own tabs and quickly navigate through my planner! Especially since I prefer creating a planner for an entire year :-)

So glad this will be happening. It is very tedious having to scroll to find the week/day I am currently on. I am falling in love with this app, but this is the one thing that is really missing.

Yes I really need! I will need to go to another planner if they don’t have it.

I was just going to request this - yes, tabs, dividers please!
Need to be able to organise things not just in the order you write them but almost like a conventional file path but way prettier, with the option of then reading it like an ebook.

THIS! Tabs and hyperlinked index pages would be amazing! Add to that the ability to crop and resize images, frames, etc and line/shape snapping like in Procreate and I could see myself moving over to Zinnia completely and permanently..

for example, if you are a student and have one journal that is your planner you could have a link to another journal that has your notes for a class
